Day 1- After arriving in
Johannesburg, depart on a four-hour scenic drive to Kruger
National Park. Arrive in Kruger around lunch time. After
checking into your rondavel and a lunch you will depart for
a game drive that will take the rest of the day and into
early evening. After returning to camp you will be treated
to an African barbeque known as a “braai” or dine in the
dining area of the camp depending on your preference.
Day 2 - Kruger’s Skukuza
Camp: This day, after a hearty breakfast, you will be on the
road in search of game. Your destination will be determined
by your guide. Your guide will know, depending on the
weather and information provided by other guides, where
certain species have been spotted. These reports will help
direct your destinations. During the day you will arrive at
other camps within the park to eat and relax for a short
time. Soft drinks and bottled water are always available on
the vehicle.
Day 3 - Leave the
southern end of Kruger National Park and head into
Swaziland. This is about a four- hour drive but can be
longer if you encounter game along the way. It is not
unusual to have to stop for a pride of lions lying in the
road. Swaziland is a real treat as this is a separate
country within South Africa and has little tourism. For this
reason Swaziland is a unique cultural experience. You will
arrive mid -afternoon and after getting settled in, be
treated to dinner and Swazi dancers performing for you.
Day 4 - Travel to Pongola
Game Reserve. This is only a three- hour drive putting you
in Pongola shortly before lunch. After settling in and a
nice lunch you will leave for game drives to complete the
day. You will be treated to an evening boat trip on the lake
adjacent to the lodge. While on the boat you can enjoy
cocktails and watch the many species of game that travel to
the water’s edge to drink. This is also a great opportunity
to witness one of Africa’s magnificent sunsets from the
water.
Day 5 - Pongola : After
breakfast you will be back in the bush looking for game.
This day will focus on finding rhino. This is one of the
rarest of the “Big Five” species in Africa. Pongola is one
of the few regions left where rhino are somewhat abundant.
You may encounter several other species of game along the
way.
Day 6 - Travel
approximately three hours to southern Zulu Land, a territory
within the KwaZulu-Natal Province. This is another unique
spot where you will experience the exciting and colorful
Zulu culture. This travel will take you through parts of
Hluhluwe and Umfolozi National Parks where you may encounter
several species of game along the road. You will overnight
at a luxurious game lodge.
Day 7 - Depart early in
the morning for Durban, South Africa where you will have a
55- minute flight to Johannesburg followed by a 1 hour and
45- minute flight to Victoria Falls. You will be met at the
airport in Victoria Falls and transported to the historic
Victoria Falls hotel. Depending on the flight schedules, you
will more than likely arrive in Zimbabwe late in the day.
Day 8 - This will be a
very full day of shopping at the local African market and a
visit to Victoria Falls, one of the eight natural wonders of
the world. You will leave Victoria Falls for a two hour
drive to Hwange National Park. Hwange National Park,
covering more than 7,000 square miles, is one of Africa’s
finest havens for wildlife and is home to vast herds of
elephant, buffalo, zebra and has a very large concentration
of giraffe. It is also home to many predators and endangered
species plus a large variety of birdlife. You will be
accommodated at the brand new and luxurious Elephant Safari
Lodge located in the park.
Day 9 - This will be a
full day of game drives and experiencing the wildlife of
Africa in it’s natural environment. This is truly the
African Safari experience of old.
Day 10 - After breakfast
you will depart for Victoria Falls in order to begin your
journey to Johannesburg and home.
