Amateur Photographers Safaris.

These safaris are hosted by some of the best wildlife and nature photographers to be found. You will enjoy the same level of accommodations that all our safaris provide while experiencing the nature and wildlife of Africa firsthand.

The safari, hosted by a professional wildlife and nature photographer, is conducted in groups of eight to ten. This small group setting provides you with great experiences in the wild and individual attention that will take the amateur photographer's skills to the next level.

The days activities and game drives are structured to bring you into the bush for morning and afternoon shoots, providing optimum photographic opportunities. Sandbags are provided for telephoto lens stability. You may rent telephoto and zoom lenses if you do not have them or if you prefer not to travel with your own equipment.

Why Join an African Safari Photography Tour?

By  Stephen  Meidahl

Why join? Because it changes your life. Your photography is never the same. When you return home, your created images stand alone. None of your friends or fellow club members possesses the photography that you created. I am in the field with you, creating heirloom images together. All questions are fine. No amateur photographer is ever embarrassed or left behind. You return home a significantly better photographer.

Each tour includes photographic instruction that is fun and full of energy. While growing up in Maine, I learned technique from a National Geographic photographer. Two things are important about that history. One, I didn’t learn to shoot from a photographer from Popular Mechanics or Crocheting Today. I learned from someone who understands shooting in the bush under sometimes difficult lighting conditions. Two, I learned while growing up in Maine. Nature photography is not best learned while growing up in the streets of New York City. To shoot nature well, the photographer needs to understand nature well. Maine provided that life experience in unique ways.

Our field experience is real. The travel industry standard is to place you in a park environment and call this real. It’s not. You will experience the real rush of shooting in the bush of Africa. Our guides are the real thing. If you want adrenalin and real wildlife, then this is the tour for you. Our partner, Farren Safaris, provides world class safaris for discriminating people who understand the significant difference between slick tour packages and real safaris. You get the real thing. Up close.

So, join me on a life changing photography experience. Let’s shoot great images together, learn together and laugh all the time while doing it. OK, sometimes you might get a little nervous with a real tiger so close. But, we’ll keep you safe. I hope.

One recent safari participant said, “Steve makes you learn and makes you laugh at the same time. I never had so much fun getting better at something. I even enjoyed getting scared a little. This is the real deal. A true safari and world class accommodations at the same time. Wow!”
